In Austria, written translations are usually charged for on the basis of the length of the text, whereas other written services (language editing, checking translations, creating advertising texts etc.) and interpreting work are charged on the basis of actual time spent.

Translations, interpreting and other language services are complex tasks which are carried out based on solid training in translation, a high level of specialist knowledge and the greatest precision, creating a value which merits corresponding payment. Because if you pay peanuts you will most probably get monkeys 😉

A survey on price levels for translation and interpreting published every two years can be viewed on the website of  UNIVERSITAS Austria, the Austrian association of translators and interpreters.
